An Unexpected Weekend In Phoenix

In May 2018, I took an unexpected trip to Phoenix, AZ. Even though most of my time was spent with family/friends I was still able to do a few cool things. These are some of the things I did during my long weekend in Phoenix.

Drink Coffee at Dutch Brothers Coffee

When I first arrived in Phoenix I was told about Dutch Bros Coffee. I made sure to check it out during my weekend in Phoenix because I heard how great it was. When I had some free time I made a quick trip with my mom to check it out. I got the banana split freeze (vanilla, dark chocolate, and banana) and she got the Hawaiian freeze (banana, orange, peach, and strawberry). I would describe Dutch Bros as similar to BiggBy but with a lot more options. They have lattes, freezes, frosts, sodas, smoothies, and many other types of drinks in any flavor you can think of.

Go For A Walk

I spent a lot of my free time going for walks around the neighborhood and other nearby areas. I used this time to take fun cactus photos and explore the nature and wildlife in Arizona. There any many interesting species of wildlife found in Arizona such as scorpions, coyotes, javelinas, bobcats, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes. Fortunately, I did not encounter any wildlife during my walks.

Spend Time By The Pool

During my weekend in Phoenix, I spent the majority of my free time laying out by the pool. It was 90 degrees during my visit so it was perfect tanning weather. Almost everybody in Arizona has a pool and this is the perfect thing to do on a hot day when you want to be outside.

Have Dinner At The Angry Crab Shack

While I was spending the weekend in Phoenix, I had dinner at the Angry Crab Shack. This restaurant has a variety of different seafood, but most of the family ordered crab legs with cajun seasoning. The crab legs come in a bag with your choice of seasoning and level of spice. You can also add corn, potatoes, and/or sausages. We also enjoyed their fried calamari strips and cajun fries. Another fun thing about this restaurant is that there are several places where you can write your name on the wall. I chose to write my name and sorority letters on the wall. If you like crab legs then this is a place you must go. It was amazing!

Eat Breakfast At Cupz and Crepes

I saw that Cupz and Crepes was nearby on the map and decided to check it out during one of my morning walks. This place had a super cute Paris themed atmosphere and a large variety of great crepes. I had the Graceland crepe (peanut butter and banana) and my Mom had the cream cheese and strawberries crepe. They also serve coffee but I didn’t have any during my visit.

If I Had More Time In Phoenix

Since I only got to spend a weekend in Phoenix, there are still many things I would like to do in the Phoenix area if were to visit again. Some of the restaurants I would like to go to are Butters Pancakes and Cafe, Fatty Daddy's, and Churn Ice Cream. I would like to visit Camelback Mountain and Saguaro Lake to do more outdoor activities. I would also like to explore the nearby town of Scottsdale and visit the town's old town district.

Have You Ever Been To Arizona?

This was my first time visiting Arizona and I hope to visit again soon. What are your favorite places in Arizona? What are your favorite things to do in the Phoenix area?
